The Cité de l’Automobile and Schlumpf Collection
The world’s largest automobile museum, the Cité de l’Automobile of Mulhouse houses the fabulous Schlumpf Collection: Bugatti Royales, Rolls-Royces, Ferraris, lined up under the lampposts of a recreated Pont Alexandre III. Wandering its aisles together means crossing more than a century of design history. A date that invites talk of travels and passions.
The Cité du Train
A few tram stops away, the Cité du Train tells the story of French railways: monumental steam locomotives, presidential carriages, everyday trains. You can even follow a sensory ‘platform’ route that brings old journeys to life. Taking a seat in a vintage carriage and imagining a departure together makes a gentle, poetic setting.
Fabrics, electricity and craft
The Printed Textiles Museum recalls the industrial past of Mulhouse, long nicknamed the Bollwerk city. Électropolis, the EDF museum of electricity, charms children and adults alike with its spectacular demonstrations. On Lyad, members from Mulhouse share their favourite museums and cafés; it is up to you to find someone to explore it all with.
